The cottage in 1990, shortly after it was built. Two sliding doors open out onto the spacious deck below and a small balcony above.Built by Dave Hall in 1986, the cottage is a 2-story, post and beam structure supported on four concrete columns. It is 16 by 16 feet downstairs and 12 by 12 feet upstairs. Insulated like a Coleman cooler, it is heated by electric heaters that plug into outlets. It has a water line to the well out back that is not hooked up to any fixture at present, and it has a 6-inch sewer pipe that runs to the main house but also is not hooked up at either end. Lack of plumbing devolved from a parenting issue: The kids lived back there in their teens, but this way we got to see them occasionally when they came in to use the bathroom.
