The driveway was replaced when the sewer hookup was built because the line to the sewer runs under it. There is a drain for rainwater that runs underground across the entire front of the garage. This prevents ice from forming in the driveway as snow melts off of the roof. It can be tricky to pull out of the driveway, into traffic, in a small car, and perhaps a mirror mounted across the street would help. On the other hand, with young children, having the drive pitched down toward the house and away from the street is a huge advantage.
